Question
How many positioning modes does Pawfit provide?
Answer
Pawfit provides 4 location tracking modes.
- Active tracking mode
Pawfit provides 3 active tracking modes, which can be enabled by tapping one of the 3 icons on the right hand side of the map screen. These features include live tracking, sound tracking and light tracking. Once these modes are enabled, a 10 minute countdown starts automatically. The reason why there is a 10 minute countdown is to preserve battery life, as these operations can drain the battery. For more information please visit: What is live tracking (find mode) and how do I enable it?
- Passive mode
This mode does not require user operations. Pawfit updates your pet’s location every between 30 seconds and 2 hours, depending on your pet’s activity level. The more movement your pet makes, the more frequently Pawfit sends the location update. During passive mode, the GPS module only stays active for up to 1 minute. If it does not get a GPS fix within 1 minute, it goes idle and wakes up again on the next location update request. You can see your pet’s historical locations over the last 7 days by visiting the history screen. This is particularly useful if you would like to know where your pet’s favourite places are.
- Pawfit Walk
This mode combines location and activity tracking together in one function, where you can see how far your pet has travelled, their average speed and the route taken within a specific period. For more information please visit What is Pawfit Walk?
- Battery saving mode
Similar as the passive mode, but the location update rate is halved. For more information visit How does Power saving mode save battery?
